Gregory Baldwin, Director of Restorative Practices

Gregory (Greg) Baldwin is the Director of Restorative Practices for CYFA.  Greg leads CYFA’s Promoting Empathy through Equitable Resolution (PEER) and Relax Relate Restore (RRR) programs. 

Greg is a licensed trainer for the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP). While at the Harvard Divinity School, Greg received specialized training in restorative justice and its intersections with spirituality, indigeneity, racial justice, and peacebuilding. 

Greg is renowned for his experience and commitment to restorative justice. Greg is regularly consulted on sensitive matters involving racial harm and injustice.  

In 2020, Greg co-facilitated a restorative conference to address an offensive senior banner that organized young children of color as the outline to the school’s initial and the school district’s harmful initial response to public outcry. Greg worked to create a safe space for the school community to express feelings, concerns, and needs and to create a plan for repairing the harms. The school’s principal described the process as “a powerful experience” and one that promoted opportunities for “constructive ideas.”

Greg has been an educator for nearly 30 years and has served as a social studies teacher, special education teacher, and school administrator.  Greg also serves as the Restorative Practices Coordinator for Alexandria City Public Schools.
