- What are your thoughts and feelings after reviewing the materials? What surprised you? What did you learn?
- Reflect upon how white supremacy is tied to language about Black hair.
- Explore the beauty products aisles of your regular stores. Are products segregated by race? How many products are available for “textured” or “ethnic” hair?
- Reflect upon your image of an “all-American beauty.” What does that person look like? What are his/her features? Reflect upon how Eurocentric standards permeate your perception of beauty. How can you challenge those beliefs?
- Examine the question: How do we collectively decolonize the idea that one’s natural self isn’t adequate?
- Hair discrimination is racial discrimination. Examine the need for federal legislation and not just state legislation.
